New HHS Alumni Group to Link Experience to Students

Graduates of Honesdale High School have racked up all manner of accomplishments in a wide variety of fields here in Wayne County and farther abroad. Now a new organization has formed with the intent of helping reconnect them to their alma mater.

HHS Alumna and Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards says she was motivated to help form the Honesdale High School Alumni Association to tap into all that dispersed experience and expertise because of her teenage children who are students there now.

"We want to be able to give them everything Honesdale High School gave us, and allow them to use the Alumni Association to connect with people outside of here or here in jobs or fields that they're interested in," she said.

Wayne Highlands Superintendent Greg Frigoletto says the district fully supports the grassroots endeavor. "As educators, and looking through that lens, we thought, 'Wouldn't it be fabulous if we could reconnect the alumni doing amazing things here and elsewhere back to our school, and do that in a way where the kids we have now can be inspired by all these great stories.'"

The Honesdale High School Alumni Association invites all generations of graduates to an informational mixer at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., in Honesdale on Friday, July 22, from 6 to 9 pm to launch its social media efforts and website http://www.HonesdaleAlumni.com/

Edwards said the event is a sneak-peek at what the group is gearing up for at this year's Homecoming weekend.
